If you have been raised in the misinformation of ‘earning Christ’ there is good news for you. Christ is for you and vicariously is you. This is why with Paul we live Christ our life rather than attempting Christ our religion.
CHRIST’S VICARIOUS ACTION
Thomas Torrance in The Mediation of Christ, writes, “From his birth to his death and resurrection on our behalf he sanctified what he assumed through his own self-consecration as incarnate Son to the Father, and in sanctifying it brought the divine judgment to bear directly upon our human nature both in the holy life he lived and in the holy death he died in atoning and reconciling sacrifice before God. That was a vicarious activity which was brought to its triumphant fulfilment and which received the verdict of the Father's complete approval in the resurrection of Jesus as God's beloved Son from the dead and in the rebirth of our humanity in him.” (1)
STEPS TO YOU
You do not earn Christ. He has earned you. You need not take steps to Christ. He has taken steps to you. Before of teaching that starts with Christ and ends in legalism. Reject books whose theme is, ‘They should have tried harder.’ In the Old Testament the slave woman is Hagar – the wife of self-effort and flesh. For us the ‘slave woman’ the bride married to the law when her inheritance is to be married to Christ. In a more specific case the slave woman is Ellen White.
EARS THAT HEAR
We can live out of lives in a bubble of deception being a people whose eyes do not see and ears do not hear. Don’t be so fixated on your imagined truth that you live in denial of life.
YOU BECOME FRESH LIFE
Christ came to us, delivered us and vicariously is us. Thus, we enjoy a fresh, free and holy life in Him when inviting Him to be directly Christ our life rather than have Him mediated to us through religion. Christ is His own mediator and is with us and in us as He promised. Christ is woven into our being. Christian discipline is living in this reality rather than living indirectly in the muffled mediation of religion, law and any diversion that suffocates His presence in our being. This is living as sons instead of workers and slaves.
As a son/daughter you have the initiative to be yourself as an agent and co-laborer with Christ in healing souls and imparting life to those with sick spirits. Or not. Because you have made a life in false facts.
